Candle Care :

Trim 1/4" of wick before and after each burn. To extend the life of your candle extinguish the flame after 4 hours. This will ensure longevity, minimize soot and remove any mushrooming of carbon on the end of the wick.

Extinguish your candle by placing a lid on the candle or dipping the wick into the melted wax while straight, to eliminate smoking and ease re-lighting.

Extreme temperature fluctuations can cause sweating. This can be avoided by wiping off the excess moisture.

On the first burn allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. This should take 1-3 hours. Failure to do this will often cause tunneling which can limit the life of your candle.

If tunneling occurs set your oven to 175°F, and place candle in for about 5 minutes to allow the wax to level out. Remove any excess wax if needed.

Troubleshooting Your Wood Wick Candle

Wood wick candles are beloved for their serene crackle and unique glow, offering a cozy ambiance to any room. However, their distinct nature requires a bit of know-how for the best burning experience.

Common Issues and Fixes

Issue 1: The Over-Trimmed Wick
Problem: If the wick is too short, it might not light properly, potentially drowning in the wax or burning dimly.
Solution: Keep the wick slightly longer than 1/8 inch at first, adjusting as necessary for an optimal flame.

Candle Care Tip #1

Why It Matters:  A well-maintained wick ensures your candle burns smoothly.
How to Do It:  Use a wick trimmer, scissors, or a nail clipper for trimming. To remove charred bits, gently use a napkin and your fingers.

 Issue 2: Wax Tunneling

Problem: The wick burns down the middle, failing to create a full melt pool and causing tunneling.
Solution: Allow the candle to form a melt pool that reaches the edges of the jar within the first hour of burning to prevent tunneling.

 Candle Care Tip #2

Focus on Cleanliness: The wick should be clean for the wax to reach the flame efficiently.
Preventive Measure: Ensure there's no debris in the wax after trimming the wick, for a steady and bright flame.

 Issue 3: Excessive Wax Pool

Problem: A hot, fast burn might result in a deep wax pool that could extinguish the flame.
Solution: Use a paper towel to soak up excess wax, or if necessary, remove the top layer of wax with a spoon. Adjusting the wax depth ensures the wick can sustain the flame.

 Candle Care Tip #3

Oxygen is Key: A dying flame may need more oxygen to thrive.
Quick Fix: Gently tilting the candle can improve airflow around the wick, helping to maintain or reignite the flame. Practice caution to avoid wax spills.
